SOCIAL Justice



Our congregation has a long history and commitment to a more just and compassionate community through direct public service. Unitarian Universalist Church of Midland is also called to action on issues of national and international concern. We welcome everyone to be a part of our social justice ministry.

Fair Trade Coffee and Chocolate is for sale each Sunday as a smart way to support cooperatives throughout the world and build a better future for their families. Learn more at www.equalexchange.coop.

Guest at Your Table begins each January to support the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee’s national and international outreach programs. Learn more at www.uusc.org.

High Sky Children’s Ranch is a benefactor each December when literature lovers purchase wonderful books for children in need. Learn more at www.highsky.org.

Benefit Luncheons support local nonprofit organizations with the proceeds of a freewill donation. A few recipients are:

Colores del Pueblo brings fair trade Latin American crafts, textiles, masks, jewelry and clothing to the UUCOM each year. Buying socially responsible gifts can empower women, children and the economically disadvantaged with an alternative to shanty towns and sweatshops. Learn more at www.coloresdelpueblo.org.

Safe Place of Midland is a benefactor each December as members and guests collect hats and mittens, plus in February when UU children create Valentines collecting environmentally friendly products. Learn more at www.safeplacenow.com.
